THE ENCHANTED GALAPAGOS ISLANDS

7 DAYS / 6 NIGHTS

ISLAND HOPPING TOUR

Day 1: QUITO OR GUAYAQUIL – GALAPAGOS

This day you will travel to one of the most amazing places in the world, The Galapagos Island. This group of 13 major islands and dozens of smaller islets and rocks, all the result of volcanic activity, certainly appears to be out of this world. These islands are in fact, an unpredictable wilderness, a living laboratory of evolution filled with an extraordinary population of unique species, which have developed apart from human influence. For nature lovers, the perfection is even greater, birds and more birds, playful sea lions, exotic plant life, volcanoes, and haunting land seascape.

Early in the morning, you will have to be at the National airport in order to board your Galapagos flight. At your arrival, you will have to pay the Galapagos National Park entrance fee. Outside, your guide will be waiting for you in order to transfer you to your hotel.

Lunch and in the afternoon you will visit the Interpretation Center where you will have an introduction to the human and natural history of the Galapagos.

Then you will continue to Darwin Bay named this way because it was the first place where the scientific Charles Darwin arrived in Galapagos!, here you will have time for snorkeling and discover the wonderful world of the sea where you can find tropical fishes, rays, sea lions, marine turtles, and others.

Day 2: SAN CRISTOBAL ISLAND: ISLA LOBOS – KICKER ROCK

After breakfast, you slip into your ocean kayaks and spend the morning paddling along the coast. The route is home to colonies of sea lions, marine turtles, blue-footed boobies, and frigate birds, you will arrive at Isla Lobos where you will have the opportunity to swim with sea lions and sea turtles.

Box lunch on route and then you will continue with your trip to Kicker Rock, a giant compact ash formation rising at around 150 meters above the sea, this is an amazing place to snorkel with rays and reef sharks, and if you are lucky maybe hammerhead sharks. In the afternoon you will have free time to enjoy Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3: SAN CRISTOBAL – SANTA CRUZ ISLAND

Early in the morning, you will go to the port where the speedboat will be waiting for you in order to travel to Puerto Ayora in Santa Cruz Island, where you will be transferred to the Highlands of Santa Cruz that is continually changing and you will ascend through all seven different vegetation zones.

You will arrive in El Chato reserve where you are able to see the Giant tortoises in the wild on this private farm. Then you will go to a local restaurant where a delicious lunch will be waiting for you. In the afternoon you will return to Puerto Ayora where you will have time to buy souvenirs, mail postcards, and absorb some local color in the social heart of the islands in Puerto Ayora. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: SANTA CRUZ ISLAND

After breakfast, our guide will be waiting for you in order to visit the Charles Darwin Research Station where you will learn firsthand of the conservation and research efforts in the islands seeing the tortoise hatchlings and breeding programs that are saving several races of tortoises from extinction.

Then our guide will drive you to the port where you will ride your kayaks and paddle around Divine Bay through calm turquoise waters where you can see white-tipped sharks, marine turtles, and rays while colonies of blue-footed boobies, tropicbirds, herons, crabs rest along the cliffs.

Lunch and in the afternoon you will hike to Tortuga Bay which is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the Galapagos. It is a favorite place for sea turtles (which gave the name to the beach); also you can see sea lions, marine iguanas; birds like pelicans, and the famous Galapagos finch.

Day 5: SANTA CRUZ – ISABELA

After breakfast, our guide will be waiting for you in order to transfer you to the port your speedboat will be waiting for you to travel to Isabela Island one of the most beautiful islands in the Galapagos. Transfer to your hotel and then you will visit the Tintoreras Islet.

At Las Tintoreras you can find a colony of white tip sharks resting in a lava canal. Here you can snorkel or swim in this unique habitat of these animals. Besides you can find hundreds of marine iguanas, sea lions playing and relaxing in the sun on the sandy beaches.

This is one of Isabela's most beautiful visitor sites. Return to the port where you take a delicious lunch and in the afternoon you will hike through the mangroves, departing from the Wall of Tears that is a wall that was built by convicts in the first half of this century when that area served as a penal colony.

Many prisoners died during the work and the construction earned its infamous name Wall of Tears or Muro de las Lagrimas. Late afternoon you will return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: ISABELA ISLAND: SIERRA NEGRA VOLCANO

After breakfast our guide will be waiting for you in order to visit the Sierra Negra Volcano that is located at the southern end of Isabela Island, it is one of the most impressive volcanoes of the Archipelago. Its caldera measures 10 Km across from north to south. You will travel by bus for 45 minutes approximately and then you will hike for around 3 hours.

A visit to this area is quite impressive in addition to its attractiveness. Following the rim of the caldera to the north, a site called “Volcan Chico” is reached comprising a group of small craters and fumaroles. If you head south to the end of the rim of Sierra Negra Volcano the so-called “Sulphur Volcano” is reached, where a huge amount of sulfur is found due to the continuous action of fumaroles.

There you will enjoy the amazing landscape of Elizabeth Bay, then you will return to the base where the bus will be waiting for you in order to return to Puerto Villamil, the route you will stop in Campoduro where a delicious lunch will be waiting for you. In the afternoon return to your hotel and have free time to enjoy the beach. Dinner and Overnight.

Day 7: ISABELA – BALTRA – QUITO

After an early breakfast, our guide will be waiting for you in order to drive you to the port to catch the speedboat that drives you from Isabela to Baltra island to the airport in order to catch your flight back to Guayaquil.
