ECUADOR HOT SPRINGS AND MARKETS

On this tour, you will experience the highlands of Ecuador visiting the unique and colorful Otavalo Indian Market, the beautiful Cuicocha Crater Lake, and the peaceful and relaxing Papallacta Hot Springs.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN QUITO, ECUADOR

Arrive in Quito and transfer to your hotel, welcome, and overnight.

DAY 2: THE REAL EQUATOR LINE – OTAVALO

After breakfast, our guide will drive you to the north of Quito to arrive in the real Equator line (Quitsato) and have the opportunity to be at the two hemispheres at the same time. After this visit, you will continue to Otavalo, the route you can stop in Cayambe and taste the delicious biscuits with cheese and in Parque Condor, a place created by an NGO that is in charge of protection, rescue, rehabilitation, and possible reintroduction to the nature of raptors, vultures including the Andean Condor and owls.

Lunch in a local restaurant and in the afternoon you will the Cuicocha Lake, first, you will have free time in Cotacachi town known for its famous leather handicrafts.

Then you will arrive at Cuicocha which is part of Cotacachi Cayapas Ecological Reserve, this lake lies inside the crater of an active volcano surrounded by native vegetation. This place is considered a sacred lake and in a certain season of the year, the native people celebrate traditional rituals there, to purify and clean their souls. In the afternoon you will go to Pinsaquí or Yellow Guest House Hotel where you will dinner and overnight.

DAY 3: OTAVALO – PAPALLACTA HOT SPRINGS

Early in the morning after breakfast, you will visit an animal market where the native people offer and buy their animals, here it is possible to find from a small guinea pig or a chicken to a big animal like a cow or a horse (Only on Saturdays).

Then you will visit the famous Otavalo market or the Ponchos market that is considered the most important indigenous market in South America, here you can find different and colorful handicrafts like rugs, tapestries, clothes jewelry, etc.

Later your guide will drive you to Hacienda Cusín where you will take your lunch, after that you will depart to Papallacta that is part of Cayambe - Coca Ecological Reserve.

Along the way you can enjoy the beautiful landscape and wildlife of the Tundra or Paramo, this protected area has an approximate area of 400,000 hectares (1 million acres) composed mainly of páramo, primary forests, rivers, and lagoons. lt is considered one of the protected areas of greatest animal and plant diversity in Ecuador. Late in the afternoon, you will arrive at Termas de Papallacta where you will dinner overnight.

DAY 4: PAPALLACTA HOT SPRINGS

After breakfast, you will have time all morning to enjoy Papallacta Hot Springs, if you want you can walk through the trails of the area or you can rest and enjoy the hot springs and the Thermo ludic area (SPA) that this place offers. After lunch, you will return to Quito to your hotel.

The SPA's hydrotherapy area consists of five hot thermal pools and one cold pool. The Thermo ludic Area is the ideal place to experience a variety of different hydro massages using either water jets or air bubbles.

DAY 5: QUITO – NATIONAL OR INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT

After an unforgettable expedition in Ecuador, filled with culture and nature you will be transferred to the airport to catch your flight.
