This program offers you the possibility to visit one of the most important communities of South America, Otavalo community and its famous market.

In this place you can see, piles of colorful hand-woven textiles speak for themselves as the artisans proudly display their treasures in anticipation of a buyer.

The famous Otavalo market and its colorful handicrafts represent part of their traditions as well as the beautiful Cuicocha Lake that is considered one of their most important Sacred places.

ITINERARY

At 8h00 our guide will pick you up in order to departure to the north of Quito until arrive to Otavalo. On route you can enjoy of the exotic fruits of Guayllabamba valley like the delicious chirimoyas and tangerines. 

Then you will continue with your trip to the north, arrival to Otavalo where you will find the famous Ponchos’ Market that is considered the most important indigenous market of South America; Here you can find colorful handicrafts like rugs, clothes, Panama hats, pictures, jewelry, etc.

Then our guide will drive you to a local restaurant where you will enjoy a delicious lunch.

In the afternoon you will go to Cuicocha Lake located at 30 minutes from Otavalo, on route you will visit Cotacachi town known for its famous leather handicrafts; here maybe you can visit one of the leather factories where you can learn the leather process that they use to get their products like: purses, shoes, boats, wallets, hats, jackets, pants, etc.  Then you will go to Cuicocha Lake that is part of Cotacachi Cayapas Ecological Reserve. This lake lies inside the crater of an active volcano surrounded by native vegetation. If time and weather permits you can walk through the trail that surrounds the crater (3 hours approximately). 

Late afternoon you will return to Quito.
