CLOUD FOREST
MAQUIPUCUNA LODGE & RESERVE
The Cloud Forest is an area formed by sharp and deeply forested mountains descending to rushing waterfalls and crystalline streams; this magic place is perfect for adventure, relaxation, and discovering a place that you never imagined could exist.
ITINERARY
Early in the morning, your guide will pick you up at your hotel to drive you to Maquipucuna Reserve northwest of Quito in the Cloud Forest. On route, you can see the famous monument of the Middle of the World and your guide will give you some explanations of this place.
At your arrival, you will have time to rest and then your local guide drive you to the trails of Maquipucuna Lodge in order to look for the amazing plants of the Cloud forest like the beautiful orchids, besides you can find bird species, insects and if you are lucky mammals.
After this unforgettable experience, you will return to the lodge where a delicious lunch will be waiting for you. In the afternoon you can learn about the different projects that they are developing with the community in order to protect the area such as the orchid’s production in vitro, the Trapiche place where they make a kind of alcoholic beverage with the sugar cane or you can enjoy of the waterfall and the river located close to the lodge.
Late afternoon you will return to Quito.

The reserve covers a vast diversity of ecozones between 900m (2900 ft) and 2785m (9100 ft), meaning you can find a huge diversity of wildlife that call Maquipucuna home.
